So how did this list become available to the public?
In addition to paying the $84 million as part of the settlement, DePuy had to disclose the payment list to the public. So here is an excerpt from Depuy’s own list of the top 10 highest paid orthopedists by DePuy in 2010.
For the record, many of these physicians are chosen by DePuy and paid by DePuy because, long before DePuy came along, they were the premier orthopedists in the U.S., already exerting a great deal of influence over the orthopedist community. We are not implying that any of the surgeons on this list have been unethical in any way. We are only saying, it would only seem fair for the public to know if a surgeon is on DePuy or another medical product company’s payroll and being paid to promote that company’s products.
Certainly, DePuy will explain to the world that these doctors were involved in development of state-of-the-art hip replacement devices. Surely, DePuy will not admit that these cripple-making devices destroyed the lives of tens of thousands of people:

One only can hope that this company will be exposed, prosecuted and punished to the fullest extend of criminal and civil courts. Victims of these failing hip replacements have lost jobs, health insurance, and other benefits. Many even cannot afford further treatment, revision surgery, fight metal poisoning caused by these devices. And that is fact besides always present severe and violent pain.
