I have been reading through this thread and have a few comments.
1. I highly recommend my lawyer, Pete Flowers, of St. Charles IL. He is experienced in mass tort litigation with DePuy, but is not a federal court/class action litigator.
2. If you believe you have problems with your hip device but are not getting an accurate diagnosis, ask your orthopedic surgeon to aspirate your hip.
3. Don't freak out about company reps being in the operating room with your surgeon. This is absolutely standard operating procedure. Unless your doc ONLY does hips, the rep is far more qualified in terms of size selection and other nuances than your surgeon. Reps are in the room for all types of medical device procedures.
4. I would recommend my doc as an honest doc, but he has semi-retired, and is only handling his ASR patients.

Be sure to report your device failure on the FDA MedWatch site---it is the only way we can get the word out that failures are occurring and hopefully get these devices recalled! https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/medwatch/
If you have problems filling this convoluted form out, let me know and I can try to help you.
I have a Smith & Nephew Birmingham Spectron, cobalt chrome total hip replacement. Surgery was 14 Aug 2008. I have had pain from day one but thought it was just the hip settling down.
But I find now that the cobalt chrome device is poisoning me - tissue damage and bone loss and pain I have to take medication for to stay mobile.
As part of my anger management I have been researching the whole area and have put together a blog with all my research for everyone to use - plus some video content for those considering hip replacements.
You guys might find it useful too - http://earlsview.com

Thank you, Rob Wilson, all us victims of failing DePuy hip devices appreciate your kind words. Many of us don't just experience always present severe and violent pain, many also have no or very limited health care because we lost insurance, and so many go through dramatic financial hardship! In case you or somebody you know want to give, we created an article/blog post including lots of information on DePuy and we also included a donation button. Full article/blog post at:
