My BlogHelping Small Business Ethically and EffectivelyCreated On: 03/07/2010 17:28:09 The biggest challenges facing small businesses in today's economy, believe it or not, is not the difficulty of becoming findable on the HUGE internet (although that does run a close second). The biggest challenge is what I like to call 'profit leaks'. These can be anything from training the staff to answer the phone correctly, (One study resulted in the finding that one type business lost four fifths of their business from that one item alone!), to how to up/down/and cross sell the customers the business already had. There is little profit in obtaining more customers if you are not already able to maximize the earnings potential from the ones you already have! Discerning Image can raise the bottom line of most small businesses by 20-40% with in a few short weeks simply by plugging those business's profit leaks. Combined with getting that business onto the 1st page of search engines and into the Google business listings on the 1st page of Google and about 20 other things, Discerning Image can increase a small business's net bottom line while businesses all around are either hanging on by a thread or failing altogether. For more no obligation information you can email mark@discerningimage.com. I much prefer to work with companies local to me in Maryland just south of Baltimore, but have been known to make an exception or at least spend enough time with a business from a distance to give them insights on some things they can do to help themselves or refer them to someone I know can help and is not basing what they do on information they learned in college and they graduated in 2007 or before. I spend 2+ thousand dollars a month just to keep abreast of the ever changing landscape of the internet. You should not do business or take advice from any one that doesn't. Mark Email Marketing for Small BusinessCreated On: 03/07/2010 17:04:20 Edited By MarkThurston On: 03/07/2010 17:31:38 Small local Businesses have the hardest time getting seen on the internet in their local sales area! One company that is helping is TrafficWave. When a small business puts up a report to capture email addresses in order to occasionally email specials and keep their company in their customer's mind, most email solutions raise the price as the number of contacts goes up! Because many people will sign up for a small businesses emails for the occasional interesting information it may contain, most will live outside the company's sales area. The small business costs for that service go higher and higher and the return is not reflected. TrafficWave never raises their prices because of a client having more contacts and still deliver the emails sent effectively into the in-box of the business' contacts! With a 30 day free trail and as any business that signs up using the affiliate link: TrafficWave I pay the next month for them, they get 60 free days for a service that understands the challenges of trying to run a small business in today's economy. ~Mark What Dry Dog Food Tastes Best To DogsCreated On: 01/10/2010 22:17:03 Edited By MarkThurston On: 01/10/2010 22:24:30 What Dry Dog Food Tastes Best To Dogs – How Can You Tell What Dry Dog Food Tastes Best To Dogs? Somebody asked me the other day, “How can you tell what dry dog food tastes best to dogs?” I just looked at her and said, “Are you serious? You are, aren't you? You mean you can't tell what dry dog food tastes best to dogs?” I mean, puhleeeeze. You put some in their bowl, and if they gobble it up, it tastes good. If they don't, then it doesn't. It's pretty much just that easy. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. Now, if you're expecting your dog to come up and TELL you it tastes good, well.... But just because your dog likes the taste of his dog food doesn't mean it's good for him. I mean, MY dog likes the taste of cat poop. But I don't think he could live on a steady diet of it for very long. Even though I think he'd like to try. That is until he tried Flint River Ranch dog food. Your dog has specific nutritional needs, just like you do. He needs a certain amount of proteins, and carbohydrates, and vitamins and minerals. And just like a child, if he prefers the taste of junk food, that's what he'll fill up on. And then he won't want the good stuff because he'll be full of all those empty, useless calories that he got from the junk food. If your dog is healthy and happy with whatever food you're feeding him, then that MIGHT be fine. If your dog is exhibiting signs like hair loss, itching, muscle and joint pain, diarrhea, vomiting, or excessive weight gain/loss, then you may need to change his food. You'll want to check with your vet first, to make sure, but your dog is probably either having an allergic reaction to the food you're feeding him, or it doesn't contain enough of the proper ingredients to meet his dietary needs. First, make sure that the food you choose is appropriate for your dog's stage of life. Puppies get puppy food, adult dogs get adult dog food, etc. Then you need to look at how dense the nutrition in the food is. Regular dog food has between 15 and 18% nutrition. This means it has a lot of 'filler'. Because most dry dog food is dried by a steam extruded process, your dog cannot adsorb much more than that anyway. Premium dog food that costs more with high nutritional density are mostly a waste of money because a dog has a short intestine and cannot adsorb that extra nutrition. Unless the drying process is oven toasted TWICE, feeding them high nutrition foods is a waste of money. Only two commercial dog foods in the world are oven toasted and only one is oven toasted twice! Flint River Ranch. Flint River Ranch. Dog Food is a high nutritional density dog food, so you feed your dog two thirds to three quarters as much as you otherwise would. Because less goes in and more is adsorbed, the stools are smaller and less smelly, too. The good part? Flint River Ranch. Dog Food IS What Dry Dog Food Tastes Best To Dogs. They have puppy foods, adult foods, senior foods and foods for dogs with wheat allergies that use potato to bind the kibble instead. Flint River Ranch. Dog Food is also the only dog food company that monitors the food PH level as a part of their quality controls. Do you love your dog? If so feed him or her not just what they like best, but what is best for them as well. BULGING OR HERNIATED DISCCreated On: 01/10/2010 21:42:33 Edited By MarkThurston On: 01/10/2010 22:26:51 http://7KeysToSpinalHealing.com is where I go. I live on the east coast and probably fly over 1000+ spinal decompression clinics to see the only doctor that has come with a protocol that increase the effectiveness of recovery through spinal decompression! The vertebrae that form the spine are cushioned by small spongy discs. When these discs are healthy they act as shock absorbers for the spine and keep the spine flexible. But when a disc is damaged, it may bulge or break open; this is called a herniated or ruptured disc. The spine is divided into three sections with the top portion located in the cervical spine, or neck. The middle section is referred to as the thoracic spine or upper back. And the lowest portion is called the lumbar spine, or lower back. A bulging disc is different from a herniated disc in that a bulging disc typically occurs gradually over time rather than suddenly. A herniated disc is often the result of an injury or trauma to the spine. In the majority of patients who experience a bulging disc, there is no pain unless the disc becomes herniated or ruptures and protrudes into a nerve. Even though you may have heard the term "slipped" disc, discs do not slip because each intervertebral disc is held in and sandwiched between two vertebrae supported by a system of ligaments that hold the whole spinal package together. Most likely the term is referring to a ruptured or herniated disc. You can have a herniated disc in any part of the spine; however, most herniated discs occur in the lumbar spine, some happen in the cervical spine and more rarely, in the upper back. Disc disorders are either contained or non-contained. A bulging disc is an example of a contained disc disorder. A bulging disc has not broken open; the nucleus remains contained within the ligament system that holds the spine together. To get a better understanding of what we are discussing, imagine the disc as a jelly doughnut. A bulging disc would be compared to squeezing the doughnut almost to the point of bursting and could be a precursor to herniation. The disc may protrude into the spinal canal without breaking open, or without the jelly squirting out. The disc stays intact except a small little bubble pops out attached to the disc, or a small bubble of jelly pops out but stays on the doughnut. A non-contained disc is one that has either partially or completely broken open; a herniated or ruptured disc or where the jelly doughnut is squished to the point where half of the jelly oozes out or all of it oozes out. When a disc herniates the contents or jelly may spread out into the spinal cord and nerves. The jelly has little space to move except into the area occupied by the spinal canal and nerve roots. To understand why a herniated disc might cause pain, let's go back to the jelly doughnut. The disc's jelly like nucleus contains a chemical that irritates the nerves causing them to swell. After the chemical agent has done its job, the remnants of the chemical remain and continue to push on the irritated and swollen nerves, and to further complicate matters, sometimes fragments or chunks of the actual dough portion of the doughnut break away from the parent disc or doughnut, and drift into the spinal canal. Depending on the type of injury and the condition of the discs, more than one disc may herniate, rupture or bulge. Sometimes injury causes a combination of disc disorders. Most often, herniated discs occur in the lumbar spine and that's because the lumbar spine carries most of the body's weight. People between the ages of 30 and 50 appear to be vulnerable because the elasticity and water content of the nucleus decreases with age. Pain resulting from herniation may be combined with a radiculopathy, which means neurological pressure or pinching. The pinching may include sensory changes such as tingling and numbness or motor changes such as weakness and reflex loss. These changes are caused by nerve compression created by the pressure from the interior disc material. The most common nerve impingement is in the lumbar portion of the spine causing pain and numbness in the buttock and down the leg into the foot and toes. This is called sciatica, the most common symptom of a herniated disc in the low back. If a herniated disc isn't pressing on a nerve, you may have just a backache or no pain whatsoever. I have pain! less that I did before going to the San Diego Spine & Disc Laser Pain Center though. For more information on back & neck pain, see http://7KeysToSpinalHealing.com If you live close, and have a back problem, Dr. Krage is the only doctor out of over 25 I saw that was able to do anything. He also has implemented a new therapy for type 2 diabetes or insulin dependence and hypothyroidism. For more infomation on those, see http://SDFunctionalMedicine.com My EventsExternal Blog
